EXPLORE CHICAGO’S AVONDALE NEIGHBORHOOD
This historically industrial and diverse community has many options for those looking for multi-unit buildings, with about 85% of the properties being 2+ units. Longtime residents remember Riverview Amusement Park, which no longer stands, but points to another great feature residents enjoy: the North Branch of the Chicago River. Avondale will be home to the new Riverview Bridge under Addison Avenue, which is being constructed for bikers and pedestrians to travel along a 2-mile path known as the 312 RiverRun. Construction of the bridge is scheduled for completion in 2019 and will connect the Irving Park, North Center, Avondale and Albany Park neighborhoods to three parks along the river path.
Avondale has been home to many waves of immigrants, most recently Polish and Latino immigrants. Residents have been drawn to the area due to its convenient transportation options (Blue line trains, buses and the 90/94 Interstate) and centric location on the northside. Neighboring Logan Square has brought some renewed interest to the area and new types of businesses to the historically industrial neighborhood, with many new restaurants and brewpubs springing up around the neighborhood as well as renovations and dev.
